The things books can teach you

In the book Love Acceptance & Forgiveness the author asks a question I have heard my whole life. Who am I? This is were he says every person should begin when talking about Jesus seen in chapter four of his book (pg 67). It is interesting the first time I heard this question it was asked by a teacher in elementary school. Draw a picture of who you are. I am sure if I found that picture it would be nothing of who I am. The thing is I don't know if there can be an answer to this question. Every person will have a different response and every response will change depending on the situation they find them selves in at that moment. In elementary school I was a shy girl who felt left out due to a reading disability. In high school I was the youth pastors daughter who hung out with the drug kids. In college I have been so many things. Right now as I type this I am lucky to be saved by a God who cares, taken care of by a father who watches over me, and doing what my father has told me to do. I can not tell that to someone and expect them to understand God through it. Who am I is a much simpler question then we have made it out to be. In some parts of Africa it is said they introduce themselves saying hello I am a believer in God... Maybe that is the answer to this question. Maybe groups like AA have gotten the right answer, hello I am an alcoholic. My name is ____ _____ says everything. Jesus simple said His name He is the son of God. In the days of old they would tell there family line, I am (name) son or daughter of (fathers name) from the land of (place of origin).
Maybe next time you come across someone instead of asking the question of how are you, maybe we should ask who are you? This way we can not only get to know the person, we can learn the culture, community, and background of the people that share the same air as us.

the I need more variety in my life sandwich

This past weekend was thanksgiving. Though this is a time of celebration and eating way to much, that only last for a day. Once Thursday passed and the leftovers were gone it was Friday. Apparently I eat a lot. So I set out to make myself some dinner. There were a few problems. One all I had in my pantry was mac and cheese boxes. Don't get me wrong I love mac and cheese but for the past 3 months I have eaten it every night for dinner. Sadly I am tired of it. So looking in my fridge I found a loaf of bread, which does nothing when you have nothing to spread on it. Plus double the amount of carbs if you eat it with mac and cheese.  Finally I looked in the freezer and found hamburger patties. So I did what any normal college student would do I made all of it.

I cook up the patty, make the mac and cheese. Then I have the most wonderful invention in the world--a sandwich maker. Taking the bread I add the patty and top it with the mac and cheese. Close the lid and wait till the light goes on. When I take it out I have a hamburger & mac and cheese hot pocket type of sandwich. It was magic, I am now addicted and made it the rest of the weekend. If you are thinking I want one but have no sandwich maker just toast the bread and it does the same trick.

The Cafe

I work in the schools cafe and there are a few things you should know. The music that you think is in your head when you walk through the doors, is not in your head. It is playing in the back so the workers can dance silly while prepping your food. We as a shift come together as a family every day and that means we talk like a family--loud and out of control. I laugh more at work then I do any where else. During our breaks we sit with other workers and discuss how the cafe has some pretty gnarly items that if in the hands of a killer would be pretty inventive. Every bad thing that happens in the cafe we have shopped up to starting with a puddle of water. We are all friends once we walk through those doors, as well as counselors, listeners, and story tellers. Work should be a place people get up in the morning and want to go because they leave feeling accomplished, that is the cafe. Plus we have great talks, funny jokes, crazy personalities, and amazing people.

Cream cheese goodness

I work in a kitchen and with this job I get the privilege to do something I love, cook.  Last night I made home made biscuits with a twist. They were filled with cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, olives. Put the filling in the middle of the biscuits before you bake them so the cheese is all melted. Let them bake until crispy brown. Something people don't realize is that most food taste better fresh, these are the same way they taste the best right out of the oven. Literally the cheese is still hot and melted and it burns your mouth. Chewing with your mouth open to let the steam out makes the experience so much better.

hard

This blogging is harder than people think. I talk a decent amount so I would assume that blogging would be easy just write down what you say. Done. That isn't true, there is so much more involved. What do I say without going down 100 rabbit trails? No offence to woman but we tend to do that, say one thing while finishing the thought of another. I enjoy so much and would like for you to enjoy them with me. So I will have to think of topics to write about. I have a few like food, and stories (I enjoy writing short stories) as well as life, and simple moments in my day. I always said my life could be a sit com but then again who's couldn't. If you think about it all our families represent some sort of life represented on TV. The characters would be my family, with the weird habits, large amount of animals, grandparents next door (or closer), and the odd neighbors with tattoos of the name Terry across his lower back (met him while by the pool). Thankfully I don't know his name so me describing an intament detail of his liking will not get back to him, I hope. Oh the joys of being young, (not saying being old isn't joyful for I have always loved older folks they are so darn adorable) anyways that might have been a slight rabbit trail. What my point is, is I will try and make my post interesting enough to read so that you want to come back not to mock how ridiculous I am but to find pleasure in the fact that you probably are similar to me.

My first blog

I am not so good with technology but friends keep telling me to start a blog so here it is. I am not sure what I will write about. Some say food, others say stories so I will just write what is on my mind and as the reader you can take what you like and leave the rest.
